Pricing in Subotiz defines how customers are charged for a product, including the billing type, pricing model, price, billing cycle, and trial period. Each pricing option is linked to a product, and a single product can have multiple pricing options to support recurring subscriptions, one-time payments, quantity-based billing, and usage-based billing.
Note: Create the corresponding product before creating pricing. For details about the relationship between products and pricing, see Products|Products and Pricing.
Pricing Overview
Products define what merchants sell, while pricing defines how customers are charged when purchasing a product.
A single product can have multiple pricing options. For example, an online language-learning product can have separate pricing options for monthly subscriptions, annual subscriptions, and one-time purchases, giving customers different payment options.

Billing Type
When creating pricing, select Recurring or One-time based on how customers are charged for the product.
- Recurring: Charges customers on a recurring billing cycle and supports billing cycle, price, and trial period configuration.
- One-time: Charges customers once for the product or service and does not automatically renew on a fixed billing cycle.
Pricing Model
Subotiz supports three pricing models: Flat rate, Package, and Tiered. These models determine how charges are calculated based on purchase quantity or usage.
- Flat rate: Calculates charges as unit price × quantity. This model applies the same unit price to all units.
- Package: Provides a fixed number of units at a set price. This model is designed for products or services sold in fixed-quantity bundles.
-
Tiered: Applies different pricing tiers based on purchase quantity or usage. Tiered pricing supports two calculation methods:
- Volume: The total quantity determines the applicable tier, and all units are charged at that tier's rate.
- Graduated: Each tier is billed independently based on the quantity within that tier, and the charges across all tiers are summed.
For configuration details and calculation examples for each pricing model, see the relevant pricing creation guides:

Usage-Based Billing
Billing quantity can be determined by either the quantity purchased or the customer's actual usage.
- Usage-based billing disabled: Charges are calculated based on the quantity purchased by the customer.
- Usage-based billing enabled: Charges are calculated based on the customer's actual usage. Merchants report usage to Subotiz through the API, and Subotiz calculates charges based on the configured pricing rules.
Usage-based billing can be combined with applicable pricing models.
Note: Complete the usage reporting API integration before using usage-based billing.
Pricing Configuration
Merchants can configure prices based on the selected pricing model. Subotiz supports up to 14 decimal places for pricing, allowing precise pricing for low-unit-price products such as tokens and API calls. Currencies that do not support decimal amounts, such as JPY, only support whole-number pricing.
Product prices are stored and displayed using the configured precision. The final order amount is rounded to 2 decimal places.
Note: Payment methods are displayed at checkout when the amount due is at least USD 0.50 (or the equivalent). When pricing low-unit-price products, make sure the checkout amount calculated from the purchase quantity or usage meets this minimum.
For recurring pricing, merchants can select Add custom pricing to set different prices for specific billing periods. Billing periods without custom pricing use the standard price.
Note: Custom pricing sets different prices for specific subscription billing periods. It is different from Tiered pricing, which applies different pricing tiers based on purchase quantity or usage.
Billing Cycle and Trial Period
For Recurring pricing, merchants must select a Billing cycle and can configure a trial period based on the business model.
Subotiz supports Free trial and Paid trial. Merchants can set the Trial duration and select Only one trial is allowed per customer to limit each customer to a single trial.
Pricing Features
When a product includes features, merchants can assign the corresponding Features to each pricing option. This allows a single product to offer different levels of service across pricing options.
Viewing Product Pricing
-
Open Products: Log in to the Subotiz admin and go to Products > Products. The pricing count in the product list shows the number of pricing options created for each product.
-
View pricing: Select a product to open its details, then select the Prices tab to view its pricing options and current statuses.
Pricing Status and Changes
Pricing can have an Active or Inactive status. Pricing can be used for new sales and checkout only when both the product and its corresponding pricing are Active. Deactivating a product also deactivates its pricing.
Pricing can be modified after creation. Modifying or deactivating pricing does not overwrite the original information associated with existing transactions and subscriptions. Existing subscriptions continue to renew based on their original configuration, while updated pricing applies to subsequently created transactions and subscriptions.
For details about how product and pricing changes affect existing transactions, subscriptions, and future use, see Products|Product and Pricing Update Behavior.
Subotiz supports recurring and one-time billing, multiple pricing models, usage-based billing, custom pricing, and trial periods. Merchants can create multiple pricing options for a single product to support different sales and billing models.
