The Products feature in Subotiz allows merchants to update existing products and prices as business needs evolve. Updates apply to new transactions and subscriptions created after the change, while existing transactions and subscriptions retain the product and pricing configuration in effect when they were created.
Impact of Updating Products and Prices
After a product or price is updated, existing transactions and subscriptions continue to use the configuration in effect when they were created. New transactions and subscriptions use the updated configuration.
- Existing Transactions and Subscriptions
- Preserve transaction records: Existing transactions and invoices retain their original product and pricing information and are not affected by subsequent updates.
- Preserve subscription renewal terms: Active subscriptions continue to renew based on their original product and pricing configuration.
- New Transactions and Subscriptions
- Apply the updated configuration: Transactions and subscriptions created after the update use the updated product or pricing configuration.
- Display updated checkout information: Checkout pages and payment links associated with the updated product or price display the current configuration.
Viewing Product and Pricing Information
After updating a product or price, review the relevant transaction or subscription to confirm the product and pricing configuration in use.
- View transaction details: Go to Transaction > Trade Orders, locate the transaction, and open the detail page to view its associated product and pricing information.
- View subscription details: Go to Subscriptions > Subscriptions, locate the subscription, and open the detail page to view its associated product and pricing information.
Impact of Deactivating a Product or Price
Deactivate a product or price when it is no longer needed for new sales and checkout flows. Deactivation does not remove product or pricing information from existing transactions, invoices, or subscriptions.
- Block new sales and checkout: Deactivated products or prices cannot be used for new sales and checkout flows.
- Deactivate associated prices: Deactivating a product also deactivates all prices associated with the product.
- Preserve existing subscriptions: Active subscriptions continue to renew based on their original configuration.
- Preserve historical data: Product and pricing information in existing transactions and invoices remains unchanged.
Note: A price can be used for new sales and checkout flows only when both the product and its associated price are Active.
Common Business Scenarios
